Hailed as “a trio with brio” by the New York Daily News, the Lysander Piano Trio brings its outstanding and award-winning musical performance to Freehold on Saturday, November 9th in the second concert of the Downtown Concert Series season.

The Lysander Piano Trio, named for the character in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer’s Night Dream, recently won the coveted 2012 Concert Artists Guild (CAG) Victor Elmaleh Competition where it was further distinguished as the Chamber Music America Showcase Performance Recipient. Described as bringing an “informed, energized musical personality to its performances,” the Trio is an immediate standout at competitions.

The trio is comprised of three new stars to the classical music stage. Violinist Itamar Zorman has been cited as a "virtuoso of emotions" and is winner of the 2011 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Russia. Israeli cellist, Michael Katz, described by the press as "outstanding" and "warm-toned,” has appeared in concerts and festivals around the world and is winner of all three categories at the 2011 Aviv Competition. Pianist Liza Stepanova has performed extensively throughout Europe, winning Juilliard’s Mozart Concerto Competition and the Despy Karlas Prize and Best Performance of an American Work Award at the 2009 Liszt-Garrison Competition.

Artistic Director for DCS, Mark Hyczko enthusiastically states, "We're very pleased to bring such a talented group of young musicians to our series this season. Presenting a winner of the International Tchaikovsky competition is a great privilege and something everyone should hear!"

Tickets for the concerts are $25 and $10 for students 18 years and younger. Seating is limited and tickets should be purchased in advance. The concert will begin at 7:30 pm.  A reception honoring the artists will be hosted by Investors Bank (21 West Main Street, Freehold) following the concert.
